Established under the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Act-2010 to foster a world-class investment environment and create employment through the development of high-tech industries.
History of BHTPA
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has been established under the 'Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Act-2010' with the objective of creating an investment-friendly environment and creating employment through the development and growth of high-tech industries in the country.
Since its inception, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has been working for socio-economic development by establishing Hi-Tech Parks, Software Technology Parks and IT Training and Incubation Centers in different parts of the country to ensure employment of the country's huge youth and create skilled human resources.
The head office is located on the 10th floor of ICT Tower, Agargaon, Dhaka. BHTPA has set up 28 Hi-Tech Parks / Software Technology Parks / IT Training and Incubation Centers across the country, with 4 parks already completed and operational.
Governance: Managed by an Executive Committee chaired by the Minister for ICT and a Board of Governors chaired by the Hon'ble Prime Minister.
Functions of BHTPA
The main responsibility of BHTPA is to bring economic prosperity through investment infrastructure and skilled human resources in the IT/ITES sector.
Plan and implementation of strategies to create investment infrastructure in Bangladesh.
Proper operation and management of the Hi-Tech Parks established by BHTPA across the country.
Attract FDI and ensure a world-class investment environment in Hi-Tech / Software Technology Parks.
Human resource development to ensure IT-skilled resources to lead the Hi-Tech and software technology sector.
Encouraging development of private STPs.
Formulating rules, regulations, guidelines and various fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for hi-tech sector investors.
Developing innovation ecosystems and infrastructures to support start-up concepts and companies nationwide.
Implementing decisions of the Board of Governors, Executive Committee, Digital Task Force and other national committees.
Important Achievements
Since its inception, BHTPA has driven socio-economic development across Bangladesh through tangible, measurable outcomes.
Construction of IT Incubator & Training Centre, Rajshahi completed and inaugurated on 12 February 2020.
Won the WITSA GLOBAL ICT EXCELLENCE AWARDS-2019 for significant contribution to Digital Bangladesh implementation.
As of June 2020, more than 13,000 people directly employed in various parks.
As of June 2020, about 16,000 people trained in various IT disciplines.
80 IT/ITES companies supported to get Company Certification; 15 more in progress.
About 13.15 lakh sq ft of space built; ~5.41 lakh sq ft allocated for business purposes. Space/land allotted to 110 companies.
By 2025, investment of companies is around Tk 2,400 crore. Revenue from parks ~Tk 24.15 crore till 2020.
Allotted 25 acres of land to Oryx Bio-Tech Ltd. — the first Bio-Tech company — in Hi-Tech City.
Allocation of land and space to 20 companies in Hi-Tech City completed.
Allocation of 10,200 sq ft space to 7 companies in Sheikh Kamal IT & Incubation Centre, Rajshahi.
Under the One Stop Service Act, 148 types of services provided; 10 services now fully online. Over 250 services delivered via online portal.
Certified International ISO 9001:2015, attracting more domestic and foreign investors.
High-tech computer labs set up in 26 public and private universities for 4IR research and innovation.
More than 100 start-ups provided with 1-year incubation facility free of charge in different parks.

WITSA Global ICT Excellence Award
World Congress on Information Technology, Yerevan, Armenia
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority was nominated and won the WITSA Global ICT Excellence Award at the largest conference on information technology — WCIT 2019 — held in October 2019 in Yerevan, Armenia. The award recognises BHTPA's significant contribution to the implementation of Digital Bangladesh and the development of high-tech park infrastructure.

Considering the achievements and success of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, it was certified International ISO 9001:2015 on 25.02.2019. As BHTPA maintains international standards across all works and services, domestic and foreign investors continue to be attracted to invest in various parks around the country.

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority was awarded the Digital Bangladesh Award in 2018 for its outstanding contribution to the development of hi-tech information and communication technology, development of human resources, employment opportunities and attracting domestic and foreign investors.
